Author Biography

Sharon Rider, Uppsala University

Sharon Rider is Professor of Philosophy at Uppsala University, where she was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts 2008-2014. She is Deputy Director of Engaging Vulnerability, a decade-long program in the humanities funded by the Swedish Research Council that examines vulnerability as a dynamic set of engendering relations. Rider’s work focuses on the cultural coprogranditions for autonomy, responsibility and thinking, and how these might be conceptualized in ways that neither reject nor rely on conventional notions of rational agency. Her latest book, World Class Universities: A Contested Concept, will be published with Springer in 2020.
